How to attest a Birth Certificate?

For attestation of a birth certificate, personal presence of the certificate holder (if adult) or one of the parents in case of a minor is required, along with the following documents:

  • Valid passport in original and a photocopy (first/last and valid visa page) of the birth certificate holder or one of the parents in case of a minor
  • The minor child’s passport copy
  • Original birth certificate and a photocopy

The birth certificate must be attested by the following authorities:

In case of birth certificate issued from India:

  • Notary public of the district where the child was born
  • Home Department / SDM of the state/union territory where the child was born
  • MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) Attestation or Apostille

In case the birth certificate was issued by authorities outside India:

  • The document must be attested by the Indian High Commission / Indian Embassy / Indian Consulate in that country

How to get an Educational / Transfer Certificate attested?

For attestation of educational or transfer certificates, personal presence of the certificate holder or either of the parents in case of a minor is required at our office with the following documents:

Education / Transfer Certificate issued from India:

  • Valid passport in original of the certificate holder or one of the parents in case of a minor
  • Passport photocopies (first/last and valid visa page) of the certificate holder and one of the parents
  • Certificates originating from India issued by universities and other institutions of higher education must be verified by the concerned university and the HRD (Human Resource Development) department of the respective state
  • For school leaving / transfer certificates, verification from the Board of Education (CBSE/ICSE/State Board) is required

Process:

  1. State HRD Authentication / State Home Department Authentication
  2. MEA Attestation or Apostille (depending on the destination country)
  3. Embassy Legalisation (if required by the destination country)

Why do I need a sponsorship declaration and what is the procedure to get it attested?

A sponsorship declaration is required to prove the financial support for an individual traveling abroad. It is commonly needed for visa applications, especially when someone else is sponsoring your trip or stay.

According to Ministry of External Affairs, the details of the Regional Authentication Centres (RACs) in the States/Union Territories from where the documents should first be authenticated are given below.

Procedure for Sponsorship Declaration Attestation:

  1. Get the sponsorship declaration notarized by a local Notary Public
  2. Authentication from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or Home Department of the respective state
  3. MEA Attestation or Apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs
  4. Embassy Legalisation (if applicable for the destination country)

Documents Required:

  • Original sponsorship declaration on stamp paper
  • Passport copy of the sponsor
  • Passport copy of the beneficiary
  • Financial documents (bank statements, ITR) of the sponsor
What is required to attest a DIN / Trade document form?

DIN (Director Identification Number) documents, trade documents, and commercial forms require attestation for international business transactions. The following process applies:

Documents Required:

  • Original DIN / Trade document form
  • Company registration certificate
  • Director’s passport copy
  • Board resolution authorizing the attestation (if applicable)
  • MOA/AOA copies

Attestation Process:

  1. Notarization from a local Notary Public
  2. Authentication from the respective Chamber of Commerce
  3. MEA Attestation or Apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi
  4. Embassy Legalisation (if required by the destination country)

Commercial documents are to be pre-authenticated by the respective Chambers of Commerce. If you have not got them authenticated, need not worry. Each state authentication has different requirements & different government bodies that can authenticate your documents.

How do I get documents such as court affidavit, surety bond and indemnity bond attested?

Court affidavits, surety bonds, indemnity bonds, and other legal documents often need attestation for use in foreign jurisdictions. Here is the procedure:

Documents Required:

  • Original court affidavit / surety bond / indemnity bond
  • Passport copy of the applicant
  • Supporting legal documents as applicable
  • Court order or judgment copy (if related to ongoing legal matters)

Attestation Process:

  1. The document must be executed/notarized before the appropriate court or Notary Public
  2. Authentication from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) or Home Department of the respective state
  3. MEA Attestation or Apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi
  4. Embassy Legalisation (if required by the destination country)

Important Notes:

  • Documents must be on proper judicial stamp paper as required
  • All documents should be in English. If documents are in a regional language, they must first be translated by an authorized translator
